Require form field Web Expression

I need to make a form field required, using Web Expression. But I cannot find
the control to do this.
In Frontpage it was done from options
 
You have to write your own JavaScript Validation scripts with Expression Web.

Why would they remove that????

It was never in Expression Web.

Because it was function of the FP extensions which are not available in Expression Web in the way
they were available in FP.
