request timed out

i have a pc (XP operating system) which gets ip address
dynamically (DHCP). i get reply when i ping from this pc
to other pc's in the network. but i get the
message 'request timed out' when i ping from any other
pc to this pc.

i reinstalled the network driver also.still the same. can
this be a problem with the network cable or hub or any
settings at the software level.

pls. help

go to the network connections folder, if you see a "lock" on the icon then
thats your problem. This lock means the firewall is enabled and blocking
all requests like ping.
