Hi,
Has anyone got a copy of RJL Software's DownHoax v1.02? The link from
their homepage gives a file not found error. A google search brings me
v1.01, but I can't find a v1.02 download. Filename will be
downhoax.zip.

I need to ask you if you're the author of this program and want others
to do the work of finding instances of the file so that you can have
them removed OR are you interested in downloading and using the program?

Also, I note this description of the program:

"Oh, what can you say about a little program that can fool the best of
them. DownHoax 1.01 is a small program that simulates the downloading of
a file from the internet. It is Netscape and Internet Explorer
compatible and shows a typical download window with location, saving
directory, the time completed bar and download rate. The download
origins of which there are 16, are completely fake sites (hopefully) and
fake file names. After the download has been completed it brings up a
"gotcha" window describing the programs intentions and links to the
developers website where you can find more practical joke software. It
includes a small readme file in html format view able in your default
browser which simply includes version history, program information,
links to the developers website and email address, and of course a
disclaimer.

DownHoax is a very enjoyable fun little program that has endless
possibilities. Zipped up at only 130k, it is definitely worth the
download to play tricks on your friends."

Do a Google for that and the link is there.

Hi John,

Nope, I'm not the author. I just want to download a copy to use. As I
said, the link on the author's homepage is not working. The website
says the latest version is 1.02 - but with google, I can only find
v1.01 (as you have found above). v1.02 adds a new feature that I want
to try out, so v1.01 is no use to me.

Ah, all ok now - RJL have fixed their website so that DownHoax is now
available again. I had emailed them about the broken link, but I must
admit, I didn't actually expect a reply - generally my experience has
been that when you email a webmaster about something on their site,
you don't get a reply. Well, kudos to RJL for fixing it so quickly.
