I posted this question, but marked the group as "newsgroup read" and
didn't get the replies.

My computer is taking 30 seconds to shut down after I hit turn off. It
used to shut down a lot quicker. How can I get it to shut down faster?

Hi Karen,

It depends on many factors. Start here:

Disable everything that reads 'Wake up' in the BIOS settings. Also, I have
seen this behavior if you have a CD/DVD in the drive during a shutdown.

This edit allows you to configure Windows so that you receive verbose
startup, shutdown, logon, and logoff status messages. This may be helpful to
in troubleshooting slow startup, shutdown, logon, or logoff behavior.
