Access 2000 application. Application works OK on an XP system and used to
work OK on my ME system but now it either takes a long time to appear or
doesn't appear at all. I have reinstalled Access 2000 on this system and
also have Access 2002 (XP) and it works slow with that also. The tool tip
delay is fine on other applications like Outlook. And I can get it to work
normally if I right click on the a blank space on the form and while the pop
up (Form Design, Datasheet View, etc) is visible I can hover the mouse over
a text field and get the control tip normally. In this case the cursor over
a text box is a pointer rather than edit tool.
I have tried everything I ccan think of ion Control Panel and Access
options.

Jeff,
I have a similar problem. I am developing a database on a W2K laptop, where the control tip won't work, and on a W98 machine, where it works fine. Same .mdb file. I have noticed that on the W2K machine, it works OK when the cursor is a pointer (i.e. over a button) but stops when it's an i-bar over a field - although I have sat watching it for a while and I can see the tip flashing for a *very* short time. I have tried changing the cursor flash speed etc from control panel but it has made no difference.

I have got round it crudely by adding the same message in the status bar text for the field. Baffling!
