Repost: Redo Outlook after replacing Word "Normal.dot"?

Sorry for the repost - my OE can't seem to find my original thread and the
response I received from Jocelyn Fiorello.

I have Office 2000. I had to replace My Word Normal.dot. I had been using
Word as e-mail editor with Outlook. When I created a new message, it came
up with my font and signature in place. Now - nothing! I've searched
through all the options I can find and reset about everything I can think
of, but I still can't get it back to where it was.

Jocelyn mentioned a template called Email.dot. I do have this template. Is
this what my new emails are based on? Should I open this template and apply
formatting manually?

If you changed or lost your normal.dot file then your
email settings changed you need to modify the normal.dot
template. I never use Word as my email editior it is too
slow but some people like all of the editing bells and
whistles. Do you have any backups of normal.dot on tape,
CDR, or elsewhere? You should never change normal.dot or
any other template unless I have made a backup of the file
in another folder first.
