A little help please.
I am tryign to create a report. But when I select the create tab the report
area is greyed out.
How can I fix this?

Unfortunately, there is not enough information here to offer anything but
generalizations.

Which version of Access are you using?

George

George:
Access 2007, this is an already established database.
I am the unfortunate guy to get this db since the owner has left.

Well, for lack of what version of Access and whether you were able to create
reports in the past... Do you have a default printer installed?

Gina:
Yes I do have a default printer installed and can print to it successfully.

Sounds like it was converted to a .accde which will not allow you to create
reports. Is the original .accdb database available?

Well, usually when making an accde it creates a new file. In that case you
would need to find the .accdb create the new report and then reconvert to an
..accde. But SOMETIMES the original file is deleted. If that is the case
you have a problem.

Gina:
Can I just resave the accde as a accdb and then have the access I need.
If not can I just import the accde into a new access file and thn modify it?

Quick answer = No
Why? Once it has been turned into an .aacde the neccessary 'info' for
creation of new objects is gone. The same holds true for importing. Are
you at a Company? Perhaps they have a back-up that has the .accdb on it?

Nope , no back-up can be found.
Am I up the creek without a paddle on this one?

Umm, I hate that term but it looks like the answer is yes, unless the person
who created feels like being nice and by rights if they created there then
it actually belongs to the company (at least that is what I was always
told). But to go after them might be more trobule then it's worth.

You might want to approach your boss about getting someone from the area to
have a look at it as the tables and the like are already there and it might
be worth it to have someone rewrite it so it can be modified.

Best of Luck!!!
