activated KMS vmware image can host their own KMS server and activate Vista
business without limit!!????

Are you complaining or advertising? With all those URLs it seems like
you're advertising.

Vista will suffer more than XP.

When XP launched in 2001, there's no good crack for XP in the first year.
That early Russian crack just make system unstale.
There were customers buying geninue XP until one day, Shanghai City
Govenment had a deal with Microsoft, then leaked both the XP and Volume
License Key(s) to the public.

The stupid KMS is not better than VLK. Many IT professional in China can
easily host a KMS server (with stolen KMS key) and start activate Vista
Business edition as early as BEFORE Vista come to the retail market...
Without a crack, perfect activation. KMS is disaster.

..... However, what confuse me is that Microsoft should already known that in
China, XP VLK piracy were indeed done by dishonest Govenment sectors and
Business partners. So now Microsoft should eliminate any kind of Volume
License in China. All Windows sold in China must be activated one by one
against servers in headquater USA.

And about Microsoft deal with branded PC manufacturer, pre-installed
Windows???

Not many Chinese buy brand PC, most prefer DIY. Even for the brand PCs, only
top-end models from few brands pre-installed Windows.
The majority brand PCs still no Windows.

Maybe MS just doesn't really care.

Maybe MS purposely leak that so that they can maintain market share.....
After all, the Chinese did put out and advertise the use of FreeBSD/linux
based OS.......

Micrsoft should care NOW...
find a solution ASAP, just in case, in the next few months, hundreds of
Chinese KMS servers appear on the Internet and get out of control.

"Let's build a KMS server" is getting hot in China...

Quite a lot of Chinese IT websites now teach you how to build a KMS server.

So what?.
This is a peer to peer newsgroup, not a peer to Microsoft newsgroup.
If you are so 'concerned' then tell Microsoft.

Hi Roscoe,

From reading this and other threads in this group regarding Vista piracy in
China, I think Microsoft realizes that there's nothing it can do about
piracy there, especially as it appears to be sanctioned -- at least
unofficially -- by both Microsoft and its business partners in that country.

Microsoft makes up the dollars lost in piracy there by charging inflated
prices for its customers here in the USA. In effect, those of us in the USA
who buy Vista or purchase machines with Vista already preinstalled, are
subsidizing the piracy.

Microsoft is making the profit for worldwide sales of Vista that it's
established in its business model, those in China are getting it for
nothing -- and we USA customers are paying the bill.

Adobe makes up the dollars lost in piracy there by charging inflated

Everyone makes up the dollars lost in piracy there by charging inflated

What's your point?

If you are interested in MS investigating, then email them at
(e-mail address removed).

If you are interested in spreading piracy, then continue to post the URLs
to this newsgroup which MS does not monitor.

A

Alan

My point is why should American customers be the financial angels for these
Corporate behemoths who can't stanch the piracy -- and who apparently don't
give a shit -- so long as the bottom line to keep stockholders happy is
achieved?

Microsoft makes a huge deal about "taking piracy seriously," but it seems
the only place it takes it seriously is in the USA, where it can try to
intimidate users of its products.

Michael,

If you truly believe that Microsoft does not monitor these newsgroups,
you're being naive. Microsoft might never acknowledge its read-only-mode
presence here, but it would be very stupid of Microsoft not to use these
newsgroups as a useful source of information.

MS does monitor these newsgroups, partly because these are part of the
technet monitored newgroups.....

Pricing for Chinese Vista in China is only 10 - 15% lower than US pricing.
Take Home Premium for example, wholesale price is 1536, retail price expect
to be 1650 Yuan or USD 212.
Not many Chinese home users willing to pay this price for a Windows.
I think if the price can drop to 600 Yuan or USD 78 can definitely attract
much more people to purchase.
By the way, who use Simplified Chinese Windows in the world? Only people in
Mainland China.
So don't worry about export dumping.

Wholesale price for Chinese Vista in China.

From what I've read in this newsgroup, those in Europe and Australia
are footing much more of the bill.
