Report from query values - need text instead of 0,-1

My report from a query yields the info I need, but the values for the query
results show a 0, or a -1. I want a text value like "x" or "yes" .

The query lists the location of items and what the items contain. The
contents field is the field is the field that gives a value, the rest of the
fields (serial#, location, etc..) show fine. The value shows whether or not n
item has certain contents.

If this field has just 2 possible values you should define it as a Yes/No
field.
If it can contain more than two possible values, then it's up to you to put
in the data you want it to display. Of course, a query can translate values
from what is in the table to what you want to display but you have to tell it
what to translate from and to. The translations can be performed within the
query itself or via a translation table that contains 2 columns, the table
value and the displayable value.
