Replying to messages from multiple e-mail accounts

I am using Outlook 2003 and have multiple external e-mail accounts. Each
account automatically forwards messages to my main account where Outlook
retrieves them. I use rules to separate messages into folders based on the
e-mail address they were originally sent to. When I reply to a message, I
would like the "Reply To" field of that message to contain the e-mail address
of the e-mail account that the original message was sent to. Currently, I
have to create Outlook accounts that are never used just so I can select them
using the "Accounts" button in the toolbar. Needless to say, there are many
times I forget to do that and the message goes out with the incorrect address
in the "Reply To" field. I'd like to simply reply to a message and know the
same e-mail account will be used consistently when replying to replies.

Outlook generally replies using the same account with which the message was
received, unless it can't authenticate properly to that account's outgoing
server, in which case it will choose another account instead of produce an
error message.

If I can't authenticate to the SMTP server, how will I ever send an
email???

My fault. I glossed over an important point in your original post: that the
messages are being combined into a single account prior to your downloading
them. Outlook has no idea that the mesages were actually addressed to
different recipients, since you've removed that information by forwarding
them to a common account. Outlook sees all the messages as being received
by a single account. As a result, unless you set up the accounts as you
described and specifically choose them, I think you're out of luck.

I think I may have found a possible solution, although not exactly what I'd
like. I am trying to use Templates to create something on the order of "Reply
From" which would display a list of accounts that would use the appropriate
template. If anyone knows how or if this can be done I I'd appreciate some
insight. This sort of thing is not my forté.
