Hi,
Earlier today I posted a question regarding a problem I have with the
installation of Symantec NIS 2006.
When I went to respond to the first couple of replies that I got, I found
that my REPLY button on the Discusion Group page just doesn't work.
In my further investigations I have also found that SOMETIMES when I try to
download replies to related problems already posted on this site, the reply
does not show up and gives an indication of 'error on page' on the taskbar.
Is it just me or has anybody else experienced (and, more importantly, fixed)
this problem?

Since you are using the web interface (the worst way to access these
groups), you may not realize that this is really a newsgroup. You will
get far more out of this resource if you learn to use a newsreader.
There are many good newsreaders for Windows, but you can use Outlook
Express since you already have it. Here are some links to information

Thank you for pointing out the error of my ways.
I have to put it down to a combination of laziness and inexperience.
Best wishes for Xmas

I didn't post that to criticize you and I hope you don't feel that way.
It is just that using a newsreader makes Usenet so much more enjoyable
and configurable.

Best wishes for the holiday of your choice also. :-)

Seems you have to remove NIS ASAP.

I was by no means criticizing your criticism of my computing technique
(are you still following me?).
Indeed your CONSTRUCTIVE evaluation has not only solved the original
problem but introduced me to what was for me a hitherto unexplored
area.
However, while the newsreader certainly facilitates group discussion, I
still don't understand why the REPLY link in the IE version of this
newsgroup didn't work while other links on the same page did.
I had noticed before, particularly in the Symantec KB pages, that
certain links just wouldn't work while others (a majority) did. I doubt
if this can be attributed to my failure to employ Usenet. Any thoughts?
Thanks once again

Since I only used the web interface once - and found it awful - years
ago, I can't answer any questions about why it doesn't work well. I'm
not sure why some IE links would work and others don't either. I'll
refer you to the IE newsgroup where you'll find experts:

microsoft.public.windows.inetexplorer.ie6.browser

Cheers,

Malke
