Replicaton time

Hello

I has one question about replication in Active directory for win 2003.
If I make win 2003 additon DC for domain and I turn off that server.
What is time when I must turn server on that he can do replication with
other AD DC. Is that time 30 days or 45 days.
And if replication in my domain is blocked on router when I must
unblock replication that domain work good.
Thank you on your asitence.

Sorry on mistakes but English is not my first lenguage.

Well at the maximum it must be once per tombstone which is 60 or 180
days depending on what media was used to build the forest. HOWEVER, you
need to keep in mind that the whole time a server is down, it isn't
replicating changed secrets (i.e. passwords for users, computers, trusts
, etc). That means say you have a tombstone lifetime of 180 days and you
don't have the DC replicate for 160 and then you lose your other DCs
your remaining DC is going to be way out of whack for all of those items
and may not be very useful to you. As a general rule I don't recommend
you let DCs get much more than a week out of sync as things can get
painful, especially in larger environments or environments with lots of
churn.

Hey Joe,

I know how to change the tombstone threshold, but what media pushes it
longer than 60 days by default?

Thanks,

Correct, that is only for new forest builds. Unfortunately there was a
bug in R2 where it got reverted back to 60 days (i.e. a forest built
with R2 media will have a 60 day tsl). This is corrected in K3 SP2 and
Longhorn.
