Replication of Calenders w/OL2002/Exchange2k public folders

We are trying to set up groups of resources that have multiple uses to link to each other.
Eg we have a meeting / conference room which has a projector. This projector is setup as a separate calender resource.
The problem arises when an appointment is booked for one resource eg the projector the meeting room becomes unavailable for other uses for that time and date.
What we want is some sort of block to prevent a double booking happening.
The only way I can see this is to auto replicate the folders by relevance so whatever appointments/meetings are booked for one resource are automatically copied and therefor shown on the other calender.
Please could someone advise a) how if this is possible to do and b) even better some other more elegant way to link the resources so that if an appointment is made on one resource which would clash with that on the linked calender a flag would show up with some information about an exisiting appointment is already scheduled etc.
Any help is greatly appreciated and will be reciprocated in kind.

You might want to take a look at the Exchange Resource Manager tool from
http://www.swinc.com. I think it provides at least some of what you're
looking for.

Otherwise, you're possibly looking at a custom server-based code solution or
a COM add-in distributed to all Outlook users.
