Hi,

when starting replication between DCs from domain x1.xxxx.com to x2.xxxx.com
the following message box appears:

The following error occured during the attempt to synchronize naming context
x3.xxxx.com from domain controller DCX1 to domain controller DCX2:

The naming context is in the process of being removed or is not replicated
from the specified server. This operation will not continue.

This happens since a few days.

What is the problem?

Regards

Michael

Hi Michael,

Here are the things that I have found can cause that error. Go through
the list and check these:

1. Check the Windows Time service and ensure that its started.
2. Check that the DCs are pointed to the correct DNS servers.
3. Check that DNS SRV records are correct and reregister them by
running
a. ipconfig/flushdns
b. net stop netlogon
c. Delete the netlogon.dnb and netlogon.dns files out of
\system32\config
d. net start netlogon
e. ipconfig/registerdns
f. Exit and restart dnsmgmt.msc and refresh SRV records

4. Check that the tombstone lifetime for AD replication (60 days) has
not been
exceeded. Run repadmin /showreps

5. Ensure that the Enterprise Domain Controllers group has Read access
to the
domain naming context.

6. Ensure that Everyone, Authenticated Users, Administrators, and
Enterprise Domain
Controllers are included in the "Access this computer from the
network" right
in Default Domain Controllers Policy.

7. Ensure that the userAccountControl attribute for each domain
controller is set
to 532480 using ADSIEDIT.

8. Ensure that the preferred or alternate DNS server settings point to
an actual Windows
2000 or 2003 DNS server and do not point to the loopback addess
127.0.0.1

Hope this helps,
Chris Malone
