I have two computers at home, one desktop and one laptop, networked together
for my DSL connection. both are running XP Pro.

I would like to copy my outlook 2003 from the desktop to the laptop. I did
an export and made a backup.pst and imported that file to the laptop.

That brought over my messages and contacts, but not all the rules and the
configurations I had set up.

Is there a way to replicate the complete Outlook 2003 to the laptop?

Once that is done (if it can be done), is there a way to synchronize the
laptop to my desktop?

Thanks for the help, as I'm new to Outlook and this newsgroup has been a
lifesaver for me.

I think I found an answer after working this a few days. Glad I'm retired
and have the time.

Under Help, I searched on Outlook Data File and came up with a document
titled Reconnect your old Outlook data file. (this fileis worth saving to
your hard disk)

Basically, your info is stored in outlook.pst located under Documents and
Settings\<user>\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Ooutlok folder

Your display hidden files have to be turned on to see this folder, as they
are normally hidden.

I copied this file to my other computer and it seems to work just fine. I
may have missed some functions in this, but not that I've found so far. My
messages, rules, contacts, etc., are all there.

Good luck,

Dennis

When I start a new message form and click on the "To..." button to the left
of the To: field, I want the names in the "Select Names" dialog box to be
last name first, but when I select a name from the dialogue box to be
inserted into the To: field of the email message I would like the first name
first on the actual message.

That's a whoole lot more complicated to write than to do. :<)

Thanks,

Dennis

This looks like it is from another post. I'm not sure how this is related to
your first post.
What is inserted in the To: field is controlled by the Display As field in
the Contact Record.
