Replacing User File After Format

So my trouble is that my hard drive started crashing. I'm in the proces of
using Emergency Boot CD (a program, not an XP disc) in order to salvage my
entire Documents and Settings (my User name) file, and moving it to my 16GB
thumb drive. Very long process, believe me. Anyways, after this is done, I'll
reformat and put XP back on and, I realize my programs won't be there. But I
would like to completely replace my entire User folder that I save to the
thumb Drive. Essentially, it's an entire User in the Documents and Settings
Directory.

The question: Is this possible, and is it as easy as copy and paste?

Thanks in advance guys!

Again, I realize tihs wont give me back my programs (although it gives me a
way to find the company names of all my programs, from where I might remember
each one), but I would like my favourites, my Music, my Documents, Videos,
Desktop... All of it the same.

Yes, you can simply copy all the data (including the folders) over to your
thumb drive...
then copy it all back when you replace your HD and reinstall Windows.

The desktop itself you will need to reconfigure
