Would really appreciate your help. I have an Acer notebook Travelmate 340 (5 years old) 12GB HD and 128MB RAM runs Windows 2000.Want to upgrade my hard drive to 30GB (2.5 inch 9.5mm enhanced IDE) ACER's parts co. have quoted me £140 for 30GB, this seems crazy. PC world do 80gb for £70 but have said as my machine is old it may not be able to cope with this size HD and Acer recommend max of 40GB for this model. My question is do I have to buy an Acer manufactured hard drive or am I safe with something generic and do you have any recommendations as I don't have a clue.
