Replacing a W2K Domain Controller

We have 2 W2K Domain Controllers (DC1 and DC2) w/ Active Directory. Both
DC's are Global Catalog and DNS servers. We have to replace DC1 w/ new
hardware. We have transferred the FSMO roles to DC2. We have build a new
W2K server (DC3) for DC1, currently a member server. We would like to domote
DC1 and remove from the domain, promote the new server (DC3) w/ the same name
and IP Address as DC1. We are trying to avoid remapping over 100 users to
their files and changing TCP/IP settings. Any help would be greatly
appreciated.

Julie,
I recently had to do this at a client site. I was informed of a tool that
can assist. Check out the web site www.sbsmigration.com. At first, I had
concerns because for one, it says it is for SBS and also because it seemed to
good to be true. However, it was a piece of cake. I followed the step by
step instructions for what was relevant to me and I was able to migrate
everything including shares very easily. I would highly recommend this tool.
