I bought my computer from Compaq and they gave me a set of reinstall cd's.
Needless to say my system has a bunch of programs that I will never use. Is
it possible to get just a windows XP cd from Microsoft? I own a XP lisence
with
the system I got from Compaq right? So could I get a replacement XP cd?

Thanks
John

Doesn't work that way. You have an OEM licensed version of XP that is
greatly reduced in cost to the OEM's to supply as the OS. They are only
required to supply a means to return the system to it's original shipped
state. Some supply the XP CD along with install media for other software
bundled with the computer, some supply only restore media, and some supply
both. You would need to purchase a full retail or OEM version of XP with a
piece of hardware.
