Replace same image in 1000's of presentations....

Hi

We've just taken over a company who have c. 1000 presentations - all
about 30Mb each - and clearly this is a bit of an issue. Each
presentation has a particular slide in it with 2 images in WMF format.
If we convert these images to JPG then the 30Mb goes down to about
800kb!

Great eh!?

So - before these presentations start clogging up our systems - is
there a utility which can "swap" images in multiple presentations, and
then "re-save" the file!?

If so - is there an automated way to use the "image compress" feature
of Powerpoint XP on multiple documents at the same time?

OS is Windows XPsp1 etc, and office is Office XP etc.

Thanks!

There are several file compression utilities available - our PPT Optimizer
at the PPTools url below is one of them - but it sounds as though you might
be more interested in going after just one or two specific images. If that's
correct, think about how they might be identified. Are they always in the
same place on a slide? Always on e.g. the fourth slide in the presentation?

If the images in the WMF have the same name in each
presentation, you could convert them to JPG, then use VBA
to loop through all the files, open each power point
presentation, loop through each slide and check the names
of each image, replacing the old WMF's with the new JPG's.

I did that in Excel to replace all the old company logos
with new ones. I never tried it in power point, but it
should work.

That sounds excellent.

DOn't suppose you could share some VBA snippets.... We're not overly
skilled in that area!
