replace lost Microsoft software

Dear Sir or Madame,

I called up the Microsoft Supplemental Parts team and asked for sending
a new software package. The software and the license is lost.

They told me to send the invoice by fax and a delivery adress, so they
will send a compensation delivery.

Now my question (before I try): Is it really possible to get a
compensation delivery from microsoft without having the license key or
software cd. Only with a copy of the invoice from the company which
delivered the software?

Yes, as long as the invoice is from a legitimate reseller.
