I have tried using Inbox Repair Tool Scanpst.exe
and it fails on consistency check 4 of 8.

running on Win 2000 Client SP3 and Office 2000 Professional

Desparately need to get this archive file back.

Try alternating with Scandisk.exe or another disk repair tool. The fault may
be at a lower level.

If SCANPST.EXE can't handle it, you may have to purchase a recovery tool.
Several exist.

Brian - your response to Ken may help me as well. Could you give me some
names of these other Recovery Tools you mentioned?

Alas, I don't have any names, but a Google search for "repair pst
outlook -express" should lead you to some.
