repairing xp

Im thinking there maybe a file missing or corrupted on
xp. I want to repair it. If I put the xp cd in when
windows is running and go to new installation shall i
just run the 'upgrade' or new installation to repair?

Try runnung sfc first
start>run>type in sfc /scannow if a windows file is
missing this should reinstall it.Have your xp disk in
your cd-r/dvd drive when you do this sfc may need to
access it
 
That might work but you should type:cmd In run,then at curser type:
Sfc /Scannow When its thru,type:EXIT
