Repairing Internet Explorer

I would appreciate it if someone would please help me repair my internet
explorer. I am running XP SP2 and I believe IE 6 - I have been looked
through articles, am completely clueless. I need someone to walk me through
this as if I am a five year old....some of this stuff goes right over my
head! I've been trying to do this off and on for the last two weeks. I
really need to get this done in order to continue receiving payroll updates
on QuickBooks Pro 2006....Thanks!

There is essentially no easy way to repair IE. If it is truly crapped out,
you're better off moving to Firefox or reinstalling Windows from scratch.
