Repair to Windows XP Home Edition

I recently installed an AT&T security suite upgrade to the original BellSouth
security package. The upgrade failed and resulted in the loss of several
files from various programs. I had to reinstall Microsoft Office to get it
to work correctly. I am using Windows XP Home Edition with a HP pavilion
desktop. I still have problems getting some programs to open, such as HP
Image Zone.

Is there a recovery program that might fix this problem without having to
take it back to the factory settings? I have already restored the computer
using an earlier restore point, but the problem still exists. Any help will
be appreciated.

What does teh AT&T suupport have to say about it? They may have run into
this before.

Patrick, thanks for responding. After talking to AT&T tech support for 2
hours, they finally got the security working, but could offer no reason why
the other programs would not work. They were not aware of any previous
problems with their upgrade.

Thanks PA. The "XP Repair Install" instructions require a Windows XP Setup
CD. I only got the recovery software that came from HP that's located on a
partition of the hard drive. Can the setup CD be made from this software or
would I need to purchase one?

No. In your case, your only option would be to use the hidden Recovery
partition to return the machine to its OOBE state.
