repair systm configration

my computer got a virus and now its telling me that my systm cofiguration or
something is corrupt or missing and that i should insert the windows xp home
edition startup and then press r to repair. but then brings me to a black
screen and to type a command which one do i use?

any help will be greatly appreciated and also if someone can give me a phone
number to someone from microsoft so i can contact them. can you please email
any replies to (e-mail address removed).

It's not very likely that this was caused by a virus. You have a
corrupted registry.
