Repair/reinstall XP home edition

I have tried repairing xp home edition from cd. it did
not complete successfully. If I restart the process, I
am given 3 options:
1. try repair again
2. install a new copy of xp
3. quit.
if I reinstall a new copy, will it reformat my hard drive
or just install a working copy of windows?
