Hi,

Recently I started XP and got an error message saying that the file
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\CONFIG\SYSTEM was missing or corrupt and suggested I use
the Repair console to recover or repair this file. I rebooted to the XP
installation CD and chose "r" for repair. XP listed 1:\Windows and said to
select the installation to logon to. I pressed "1" and got a C:\WINDOWS
prompt.

Now what?? :(

I am the only person that uses this computer. I tried typing "Logon 'my
password' " where 'my password' is the password I established when I
installed XP and set myself as the Administrator. I tried typing just the
password and both times was returned to the C:\WINDOWS prompt. What am I
missing?

By the way, I did a complete hard drive check and no problems were found.

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks,

James
