Repair Network Connection - Operation failed

Error Renewing the IP address reports when attempting to
Repair the network connection. My cable provider suspects
the TCP/IP stack XP software bug is causing this repair
operation failure. They suggested Knowlege Base Article
No. 817517 to use Regedit for making necessary changes to
the appropriate Keys... I'm unable to find that article???
 
Just call your cable provider back and tell them there is no such article
817517.
