It appears that Maxblast altered my MBR when I installed and formatted a
second hard drive. How do I restore the MBR to its original state?

Thanks,
Dennis

Is the MBR that one the primary drive?
Has this caused your operating system to fail in any way?

If nothing is affected adversely, in such a manner, then leave it alone.

Otherwise, if you have a problem starting XP, you can use the XP CCD and
boot up into recovery console and run FIXMBR.

Not sure what you mean by 'its original state' or what is wrong with it as
it stands (have you got NYB virus or something?? Or is your problem related
to incorrect jumpering on the drives which makes the boot look to the wrong
drive for boot up info and therefore gives you the impression that you need
to restore an MBR??) but the standard way of restoring is by booting off a
clean boot disc and simply running

fdisk /mbr

Not sure what you are trying to restore which isn't cured by this but it may
be better than what you have at the moment?

Make sure (if this is an NYB issue) that you have got a CLEAN boot disk
(made on another computer?)

Well I am having a similar issuse but I don't have a windows xp pro recovery
disc I only have a windows xp home recovery...what do I do because I can't
log into my pc in safe mode or normal modem with out the pc restarting...

FIXMBR did the trick. Thanks very much; in all the years I've used
computers I've never had to deal with the MBR. Thank you again.
