Repair G3

My friend has a early G3 Mini Tower that will no longer start/boot. It is
not a battery issue System is Completely dead.

He has purchased a G4, however he needs data that is still on the older G3
system. Can anyone recommend a reliable place he can have the G3 repaired ?

Hi Ben!

From your description of your friend's problem, my first guess would be that
he has a bad power supply. These are easy to replace if you can find one.

If you have a local dealer who does PC repair, he can probably locate parts
for Macs as well. Other options would be to look online for parts dealers.

If this is your problem, then your friend shouldn't have lost any
information on the hard drive. If worse comes to worse, you may be able to
remove this drive and place it into the other Mac system as a slave drive.
The G3 minitowers also used IDE drives.
