Repair Console wants admin password

I need to use the repair console to fix a problem on my system. However, it
keeps asking for the admin password. I don't have an admin account on this
machine, just a single user system. And I don't have an admin password. But
if I just hit enter, it won't accept it. How do I get past this?

You (or someone) entered a password for 'Administrator' when the machine
was set up. The default is blank (and that's usually the pswd for XP
home). If you don't know what it is, rumour has it that the Win2000 Pro
repair console will load without asking for a password (on an XP
machine), if you happen to have Win2k pro CD around.

Same I *think* if you boot the XP CD, as it has to be able to work
without access to a registry (it does not yet know where that is and it
may be damaged) . The need for a password happens if you use a RC
installed to hard disk.
