Render movie to tape

I have successfully rendered several movies to camcorder tape.This same movie
was successfully rendered previously, but the sound was over driven so I
reduced the volume and was going to rendered it again. But this time I forgot
to supply battery power and the battery died 11 minutes before the complete
movie was rendered. Now when I try to render it I get the following message
at the end of "Please wait while disk space is allacated": "Your movie was
not recorded successfully to the tape in your DV camera." (Untill the battery
played out the movie was successfully rendered to that point , but the
computer kept on running untill the finish line said 100%, but the "minutes
left' still said 11 minutes.) I have rebooted and tried unseccessuffly
several time. The complete 23 minute movie plays fine in the preview
window.)I have 8 gig free on my C drive and 58 Gig on the D drive Thanks for
any help.

Delete any temporary files before trying again... check your MM2 settings
for the location of the temp files... and while there change it to your D
drive where there's lots of space.

Movie Maker builds temporary DV-AVI files, copies them to the camcorder, and
then cleans up by deleting the temp files. An abnormal finish would leave
the temp files and you might be clashing with them when you try to repeat
the process.

Thanks PapaJohn for the quick response. How do you "...check your MM2
settings" and then find the location of the temp files? I found in the MM2
helps Temp storage info to "click Browse" to find the location for temp
storage. Where is "Browse" ? Thanks from an appreciative newbe.

Hi Randy,

use MM2's main menu > Tools > Options > General tab > Temporary storage
entry...

whatever is in there now is the folder your temporary files are in... that's
the place to check for any leftovers and delete them to free up space...

if it's pointing to anyplace on your C drive... just type in D:\ and it'll
use the root of your D drive in the future.. or browse to your D drive.

The temp storage was already on the D drive and did not contain any ..tmp
files. I tried once again, unsuccessfully, to render to my Sony DCR-TRV33. I
then rendered to a CD-RW which worked perfectly untill near the end I got
this message: "Your system is low on virutal memory. Windows is increasing
the size of your virtual memory paging file. During this process, memory
requests for some applications may be denied." Sure enough, the last 4
minutes of the 23 minute movie only had the audio/music and no video.
(My RAM is 512 MB. All the MM2 info is on the D drive with 58 Gig free.) Any
suggestion for rendering either to camera or CD-RW? (I just bought your book,
and it is becoming very helpful!)
