Would someone please elaborate on renaming the Google Toolbar Registr
Entry?
What part should be changed and to what?

Tell us what you are trying to do.
Why would you want to rename any part of the Google Registry keys?

Relates to problem Google Toolbar created for many starting Fri. Uninstall cured the situation but
some of us would like to have the toolbar back as it used to be

I found the real problem with it. It has to do with th
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Google\NavClient\1.1\Promo key in the registry
The toolbar uses that to install some valentine scheme to skin the toolbar
By simply renaming that key, I can still use the toolbar and connect a
usual. Of course close all IE instances before making that change

I think I found the fix: If you are running the Google Toolbar, uninstal
it. As soon as I did (not even rebooting) everything was fixed. I opene
IE and the dial-up dialog appeared. Weirdness

Install the Google bar without the advanced options and tracking.
I have it installed like that and it does not have the Promo key and I
didn't have any Valentine scheme.

If you still have that Registry key, then remove it (or rename it if
you must)
I see little difference in renaming the key to make it invalid or
removing it.
To remove the key:
Start-Run-Regedit.
Navigate down to the Promo key.
Ensure the highlight is on Promo in the left-hand pane and Delete (or
rename if you must)
It is always a good idea to export any key in the Registry before
deleting in case of error. (Use the menu option Registry-Export while
the key is highlighted)
