I am having trouble with Outlook taking ages to send/receive after installing a new version of McAfee (V8.0) from Version 7. I have followed McAfee's trouble shooting instructions with no luck, so I am now following some ideas listed in this forum. I have found and am now trying to rename outcmd.dat. Do I rename it outcmd.old or just .old. If I need to rename it to outcmd.old how do I do this? Thanks for your help!

It doesn't really matter what you rename it to, since you're probably never
going to use it again. The goal is for Outlook to notice that the
outcmd.dat file is missing and it needs to create a new one. You can rename
the file to OLDoutcmd.dat if you don't want to mess with file extensions.
Really the only reason you'd rename instead of just deleting the file
altogether is to be able to restore it if whatever you were trying to
accomplish doesn't work. (The outcmd.dat file holds toolbar customizations,
which some people would prefer not to lose if possible.)
