renaming multiple files

Hi,
is there a way to rename files in windows by selecting
the fiels you want to rename and then use a "find and
replace" command so that you could enter a search string
and replace it with the name you want?

Yes, there is. But it is too dangerous for you might

rename a file (i.e. *.dll) relating to a program which
will no longer run, due to "shared" files.
