Renaming folder by clicking on the folder in WinExplorer does not work (any more) ?

From Win2000 I know that I can rename a folder be softly clicking onto its name in the folder
tree pane of WinExplorer exactly ONE time. The name becames then selected and editable.

I tried the same within WinXP+SP2 but it doesn't work.
Do I have to switch on a certain setting to be able to do a rename this way?

Ok, I could do the same thing by right clicking on the folder name and choose "rename"
but I would appreciate do it my way (by not using the context menu) :)

If you select the folder and press the F2 key you can rename it the way you
want to..

This is the effect of 'Simple Folder View' being selected in the folder
options.

With this set, the folders automatically expand and collapse on a click,
instead of a double-click, and you lose the single-click edit function.

That's never been true on any Win2K installation that I've ever seen;
although one can get the rename option by slowly double-clicking on the
folder (or a file, for that matter).

WinXP works exactly as described above, just like Win2K.

Another way is to tap it twice, NOT doubleclick, tap once so that it's
highlighted, wait a moment or two, then tap again. The little box should
appear around it, indicating that you're good to go. Good luck!
