Removing XP

I recently took over a business with several older
computers (Dell). I bought new computers with Windows XP
and sent the old ones out for refurbishment.
Documentation and program discs were missing and an
employee tried loading Windows XP on to the refurbished
systemswith our new system discs.
It worked but we were unable to register it due to
missing key codes, certs of auth, etc. Now I can't use
the refurbished computer because it has an unregistered
copy of XP on it that is locked up awaiting
registration. My question is how to remove the XP and try
to return to the previous Windows 98.

Any suggestions?

Boot the computer to Safe Mode and go to Add/Remove Programs. If you chose
to backup the original installation, you'll be able to uninstall XP and go
back to 98 (assuming you didn't convert the hard drives to NTFS during
setup). If you did a clean install, you have no choice but to format and
reinstall 98 from scratch.
