Removing XP update files

Darrell

Hi All.
My hard disk crashed yesterday and I am now trying to get my system back to
where it was before the crash. I have re-installed windows XP and then I
downloaded everything from the Microsoft update site. After doing so, I
have the following directories and files:

c:\3a928917af28b3b2487cb6\sp2\update\update.exe

c:\9a39ac97761e2ae02308bd\sp2\update\update.exe

c:\261b0990ee1fb318138d7d2c5e798f3864f81c21f67fd5cb\sp2\update\update.exe

c:\81446\sp2\update\update.exe

c:\adea8fbe33bb810e1c20480d0634\sp2\update\update.exe

My question is; now that I have installed the updates, can I safely remove
these directories and files?

TIA,
Darrell

Yes, those folders can be deleted. In case you receive "Access Denied" error while deleting, take ownership and then delete: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;308421
