Removing xp for 2000 but..

I get this error on booting up my 2000 disk
Windows could not start because the following file is
missing or corrupt.

<windows root>\system32\ntoskrnl.exe

Please reinstall a copy of the above file

I presume that you've set the PC to boot from the CD? Are you
confident that the CD is, in fact, bootable and without defect? All
legitimate retail Win2K CDs are bootable, but a badly burnt copy may
well fail.
