Hi,

Does anyone know of a way to automatically delete unused styles in Word 2003
documents?

Page layout programs generally have a command which does this. Is there a
way to do this in Word 2003?

Thanks.

I'm not aware of a way to do it automatically, but you can display a style
list that contains only the formats that are available or only the formats
that are currently being used in your document.

Bring up the "Styles and Formatting" Task Pane (View --> Task Pane, then
select Styles and Formatting from the dropdown menu at the top of the sidebar
pane). At the bottom of the sidebar is a drop-down menu ("Show:" is next to
it). Select the option you want (e.g., "Formatting in use") and it will
filter the styles that are shown in the formatting list above.

You can also pick and choose the styles you want to have available in your
document by going Tools --> Templates and Add-Ins, then click the
"Organizer..." button at the bottom left.

Hope that helps!

Jo
