For some reason I have a shadow on my fonts displayed under the icons on my
desktop. The letters are white with a gray shadow. I've looked everywhere
and can't get it to go to just black font. Can anyone give me some info on
this.
Thanks
BOB
The shadows under icon text on the desktop are there by design. This
is how Microsoft has implemented transparent icon text. So rest
assured that nothing is wrong. However...
The shadows under your fonts displayed under icons on the desktop
cannot be removed unless you want to return to the classic look of
desktop icons (big blocks of color behind each icon's text). If you
want a quick & dirty way to return to that style, just right-click on
the Desktop, choose "Arrange icons by", then put a checkmark beside
"Lock web items on the Desktop."
By the way, there is no way (using options in Windows XP) to change
the color of icon text. Windows automatically sets the color of icon
text in accordance with the Desktop background color. If you want
black text for icons, choose a light-colored Desktop background or
Wallpaper. XP will only use two colors for icon text -- black or
white -- black if the Desktop is light, and white if the Desktop is
dark.
It is possible to change the color of icon text, but you must use
third-party tools to do it.
Google "change icon text color in Windows XP", then click on "Groups"
above the results.
