Removing the first DC in the Forest?!

Hi, We are on the way to upgrade to w2k3.
After we have moved over the DC to the new 2003 server correct, is it
possible to remove the old dc (2000 server and "first in the forest")?
Do we need to transfer FSMO roles? (http://support.microsoft.com/?id=255504)
Please let me know if you know something about this!

Yes. It is possible to do this. Ensure you have migrated the following to
other servers:

1 - FSMO Roles
2 - Global Catalog
3 - DNS registrations.

When removing the server, run DCPROMO to demote.
