Removing Start button right click item

I

its like that

Minor but irritating problem:

A piece of software I used to use installed an option when you right-click
on the START button in XP (the same option is also there when you right
click on a folder in Explorer).

I've uninstalled the software, but the option is still there. And I've
really poked around and I'm pretty sure it's all gone ...

If I go to Folder Options, File Types, File Folder, Advanced, the item is
there in the list (and not set as default) but when I select it the 'Edit'
and 'Remove' buttons are greyed out.

Does anyone know how I can zap this? I'm using XP home SP1 - yes, I know, I
will get SP2 soon, I promise .... :)

Many thanks

What software? Is it a secret?

Click Start | Run | Type: regedit | OK
Navigate to >>>

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\*\OpenWithList
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\*\shellex\ContextMenuHandlers
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Directory\Background
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Directory\shell
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Directory\shellex\ContextMenuHandlers
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Drive\shell
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Drive\shellex\ContextMenuHandlers
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Folder\shell
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Folder\shellex\ContextMenuHandlers

Look for entries related to [[A piece of software I used to use]]

Open regedit and do a Ctrl + F for [[A piece of software I used to use]]

Search the registry for the exact text that you see in those context menu
items, then delete the relevant keys.

It gets a bit tricky (1) if one character is underlined,
or (2) if some of the text is right-justified.

(1) For an underline, precede the character with an "&".
Example:
Special &Function
would display with "F" underlined.

(2) For right-justified text, use "\t"
Example:
Left side text\tRight side text
would display as...
| Left side text Right side text |

Start
Run
regedit
Enter

Edit-Menu
Find...

Find what: [ <text> ]
Look at:
[Y] Keys
[Y] Values
[Y] Data

Delete the key.

Press [F3] to search for the next occurrance of <text>.
