removing shaded area

I'm using access 2010 and i've noticed a continuous form / report has
alternating shaded areas (i suspect to make it easier to read) however
when we try to print the report the shaded area looks terrible
(printing with a dot matrix printer)
Can anyone tell me how to disable the shading feature?
