Removing reinstalls ?

long story short.... corrupted win XP, reinstalled on same HD with [Windows2] folder(but without prior desktop icons, etc..) I found out later that I could have tried to Repair and saved all data and links.

As I did not erase or overwrite older install, is it too late to remove the new reinstall and go back for an attempt at Repair ?

failing that, how can I delete the old install, after scavenging files, to revmove the multiple OS selection menu ?

Thanks..
