removing references

When using 2007 word with the endnote feature that comes with is there a way
if I copy a part of the document to a new document to include just the
reference numbers but somehow not have the references that come attached to
it?

I don't know a comfortable way.

You could save the file (or part) as a text file. And then delete the
endnote next itself. But you'd loose all formatting, naturally. :-(

I'm not sure how the reference numbers would be useful without the actual
endnote text?
