Removing Read Only Attribute

J

Joseph

I am logged in as local admin and trying to remove the
Read Only Attribute that is on a Shared Directory. I have
tried everything I can think of, but everythime I try to
remove the read only setting - click OK to change the
setting on that folder and all subfolders - and Click Ok
and Apply, when I go back into the folder properties the
Read Only setting is again highlighted.

Can anyone explain how to once and for all remove the Read
Only setting - thanks for your help!

That checkbox on a folder only acts as a switch to set/unset
the attribute on contained files.
You must use the old DOS attrib command to manipulate
the attribute on folders.
