removing icons from startup execution

Hi.
I have some programs that have installed very annoying
icons next to my clock. They automatically run at startup
as well. I have not been able to disable them from inside
the programs themselves.

How can I stop these programs from running at startup?
and get rid of the icons?

We're talking about QuickTime and HPprinterControlPanel

Applications that start with Windows can be found here:
- the WIN.INI, section [windows], entries "run=" and "load="
- the Registry keys
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunServices
- the folders
C:\DOCUMENTS AND SETTINGS\ALL USERS\START MENU\PROGRAMS\STARTUP
C:\DOCUMENTS AND SETTINGS\{username}\START MENU\PROGRAMS\STARTUP
