Removing icon from desktop

K

k

Having uninstalled unwanted software from my computer, I am unable to delete
the relevant icon from my desktop.
I receive 'Could not find this item' This is no longer located in
C:\Users\Public\Public Desktop. Verify the item's location and try again.
Doing a C: search does not identify it's location.

Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you

Right-click on your Desktop and press "Refresh". The icon should disappear.

Hi Flavious,

It didnt work!! :(

i went to safe mode .. tried deleting it.. tried to even delete it from the
command prompt in the safe mode! the system doesnt recognize it.. its as if
the file is invisible :s

i hate vista! :( i dont wanna format it because its a brand new laptop
with vista home edition pre installed from sony...

i googled this topic a lot and didnt find any solution....

anyone.. help? did anyone manage to fix this?

my file is .torrent file... but its a blank piece of paper, like its not
there.

0 bytes

it doesnt make any sense!

i tried downloading the original torrent file again... and delete them
together, somehow sometimes it works and i manage to get rid of it...

but when i click on REFRESH for the desktop ... it REAPPEARS! :(

Look in both of these places...

C:\Users\(Your Name)\Desktop
and
C:\Users\Public\Desktop

and delete the icon if it appears there.

If that doesn't work, try deleting the (hidden) IconCache.db file under
C:\Users\(Your Name)\AppData\Local\ and restart your computer. A new one
will be built automatically.
